Applying for a Jamaican Police Certificate from Abroad – Step-by-Step Guide

If you need a Jamaican Police Clearance Certificate while living abroad, follow these steps to submit your application correctly.

Step 1: Complete the online application

  • Visit the PCAMS website and register an account.

  • Fill in the online application and make sure all required information is entered correctly.

  • Download the reference number of your application.

Step 2: Gather the required documents

To complete your application, collect the following documents:

Fingerprints:

  • Have your fingerprints taken at a police station or authorized agency in your country of residence.

  • The document must be stamped and signed by the person who took your fingerprints, and their name must be clearly stated.

Two passport-sized photos:

  • Size: standard passport format

  • They may be signed, but must not be embossed.

Copy of passport (bio-data page):

  • Must be certified.

If sending via FedEx or DHL:

  • Include a return label if you want your document returned via the same method.

Step 3: Payment of application fees

The cost of the Police Certificate is:

  • JMD $3,000 – Regular service (21 working days)

  • JMD $6,000 – Express service (5 working days)

How to pay:

If you do NOT have a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN):

  • Payment must be made at the Jamaica Constabulary Force Finance Branch, 2 Oxford Road, Kingston 5.

  • The receipt and documents must then be delivered to the Criminal Records Office, 56 Duke Street, Kingston.

If you DO have a TRN:

  • Payment can be made at any Tax Office in Jamaica.

  • A third party in Jamaica may also make the payment on your behalf via the TAJ Mobile App or at a tax office.

If you are not in Jamaica:

  • This is a challenging part. Currently, there are no alternative payment methods other than the two options mentioned above.

  • The best option is to ask a family member, friend, colleague, or someone local in Jamaica to make the payment for you at the specified locations.

Proof of payment:

  • Include your proof of payment with the other documents.

  • Payment can be made in USD, CAD, GBP, or any other currency accepted in Jamaica.

Step 4: Sending the documents

You can send your documents in one of three ways:

  • By courier service (FedEx, DHL, UPS, or another reliable service)

  • By regular mail (not recommended from the Netherlands)

  • Through a local agent or third party in Jamaica

Note:

  • If a third party submits your application, they must have an authorization letter and show valid ID.

  • Foreign applicants must use a passport as identification for police certificates.
