Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What do you need to request a police clearance certificate (PCC) abroad?

🔍 Have you lived, worked, or studied abroad? You might need a PCC from that country for security checks, employment screening, or a visa application.

Here’s what you’ll typically need:
1. Application form (usually online, sometimes on paper).
2. Fingerprint cards (officially taken).
3. A valid passport (ensure it’s up-to-date).

Some countries may require extras like:
1. Passport photo.
2. Visa copies.
3. A motivation letter explaining your request.

Requirements vary per country. No worries, we guide you from fingerprinting to document preparation.

How does the fingerprinting process work?

Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed and asked to present a valid ID. Your fingerprint documents will be checked, and your prints will be taken with ink on an official card by a certified fingerprint technician. The process takes about 20 minutes.

Is it mandatory to provide fingerprints for a PCC in the USA, Canada, South Africa, or Singapore?

Yes, these countries require fingerprints. Specific requirements vary by country and authority, but without submitting your fingerprints, you cannot obtain a PCC.

How quickly can I receive the police clearance certificate?

Processing times vary by country and application type. It usually takes 2-4 weeks. Expedited processing is available in some countries.

Where can I schedule a fingerprinting appointment?

In Europe, there are limited locations for fingerprinting. At our service, you can easily book via our online Calendly scheduler available on multiple pages of our website.

The appointment typically takes 15-30 minutes, depending on the complexity and your specific case.

Do I need to send documents to foreign authorities myself, or is it handled for me?

You can choose. We offer an all-in service to send your documents via FedEx Express Priority. Alternatively, you can send them yourself, but we recommend using FedEx, UPS, or DHL Express.

Do you have a license to take fingerprints?

Yes. We hold a valid license under the Dutch Private Security and Detective Act (Wpbr).
Our license number is: POB 7442

We are also officially authorised by the Dutch police, which means we are legally recognised to take fingerprints for official purposes such as police clearances and background checks.

What is a WPBR license?

A Wpbr license is an official authorization from the Dutch government to operate as a private detective agency. Without this license, you are not allowed to take fingerprints, conduct investigative research, or store personal information.

The license is issued and monitored by Justis, which is part of the Ministry of Justice and Security.

How can I verify if your license is real and still valid?

You can easily verify this through the official Justis register:
https://www.justis.nl/registers/wpbr-register
Search by our license number (POB 7442) or company name (Fingerprints & Screening).

Please note: working with a different agency? You can also use this register to check whether that company is still active and officially licensed.
We strongly recommend doing this every time — even if you’ve used our services or another agency before.

A WPBR license must be renewed every 5 years.

Why is this license important?

Without a valid license, a company is not legally allowed to take or process fingerprints for background checks or police certificates.

If you submit fingerprints taken by an unlicensed agency, there is a real risk your application may be rejected or deemed invalid by the requesting authority.

What makes your service different from other providers?

Not all providers are officially licensed or recognised.

With us, you can be sure that you:
1. are working with an officially licensed agency;
2. receive the correct documents for your application;
3. are assisted professionally.

So always check the license of the company you choose for fingerprinting services.

Is a WPBR license legally required for fingerprinting services?

Yes. Any organisation that takes fingerprints for official or international purposes falls under the category of private investigation work in the Netherlands. A valid WPBR license is legally required to perform this type of service.

What happens if I use a company without a valid license?

You risk having your application rejected or declared invalid. In addition, your personal data may be processed unlawfully, which could result in a violation of GDPR regulations.

That’s why you should always choose a provider that is properly licensed and officially registered.

Are you supervised by the government?

Yes. Agencies registered with a WPBR license are supervised by Justis. They regularly check whether agencies comply with all applicable laws and regulations. The Wpbr license must be renewed every five years.

In addition, the Dutch police (Department of Chief of Police Tasks) also conduct a background screening. This police check takes place every three years, and as a result, private investigation agencies receive new police identification every three years.

Is registration with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) enough?

No. A Chamber of Commerce registration simply means that a company is operating commercially.
It does not mean the company is authorised to take fingerprints or handle personal data.
A WPBR license is legally required and is only granted after thorough background checks and police screening.
