SAPS Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

What is an SAPS Police Clearance Certificate?

An SAPS Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document that indicates whether a person has a criminal record in South Africa. It is often required for visa/immigration, work permits, and employment screening.

Who can apply for a SAPS PCC?

Anyone who needs an official record of their criminal status can apply for a PCC. This applies to both South African residents and foreigners.

How do I apply for a SAPS PCC?

1. You can apply for a SAPS PCC yourself by filling out an application form and submitting it to a SAPS office. You also need to have your fingerprints taken and submit a copy of your identity document or passport. You must visit the office in person for this.

2. You can also hire a company in South Africa to apply on your behalf, submit the documents, and pick them up. This is especially convenient if you are not in South Africa but still need a police clearance certificate.

What documents do I need for the application?

You need a fully completed application form, your fingerprints, a copy of your passport, and a copy of your SA ID (if you have one).

How do I have my fingerprints taken?

Fingerprints can be taken at any police station in South Africa or by a recognized agency abroad.
